Nikajha Thee Alchemistt, 25, died after a June 3, 2026 incident in the 2400 block of Ridge Avenue in East St. Louis.
Authorities said the event happened shortly after 1:00 p.m. on a quiet Wednesday afternoon, and investigators continue to review the circumstances.
Officials reported that Nikajha’s vehicle continued along the roadway and crashed into a concrete pillar near 25th Street and Cleveland Avenue.
First responders found Nikajha with critical injuries and transported Nikajha to a nearby hospital, where medical teams worked to provide care.
Nikajha later died from those injuries, leaving family members, friends, and East St. Louis residents mourning a life lost too soon.
East St. Louis Police secured the area, Illinois State Police assisted, and detectives collected evidence while speaking with potential witnesses.
Authorities said they took one person into custody, but they had not announced formal charges or a possible motive in the latest update.
