Leah Hyde, 24, Of Willard Remembered After June 2 Freeway Crash In Springfield, Missouri
Leah Hyde, a 24-year-old Willard resident, died on the afternoon of June 2, 2026, after a roadway crash on the West James River Expressway in Springfield, Missouri.
Authorities said Leah’s vehicle hit a concrete median in the westbound lanes between Campbell Avenue and Kansas Expressway, came to rest in the roadway, and Leah was then hit by another westbound vehicle after exiting the vehicle.
Emergency responders arrived quickly and pronounced Leah dead at the scene, and officials reported no other injuries.
Leah was pregnant, and loved ones said the family had been preparing to welcome baby Lark Elizabeth.
The community in Willard, Springfield, and nearby areas has shared memories, photos, prayers, and support for Leah’s family during this deeply painful time.
An online fundraiser in Leah’s memory also confirmed the baby’s name, adding to the grief felt across the region.
Springfield police continue to review the circumstances of the June 2 crash.
