Maritzel Barragan-Martinez died on June 2, 2026, according to a fundraiser organized by Itzel Martinez on June 4, 2026.
The family described Maritzel as their only child, their greatest blessing, and a brave young person who faced major health challenges with strength.
Maritzel lived with special needs, epilepsy, Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome, respiratory issues, and mitochondrial disease.
The family said Maritzel, who was nonverbal, shared love through presence, eyes, and a smile that left a lasting place in their hearts.
A memorial fundraiser titled “Honoring Maritzel’s Beautiful Life and Memory” had raised $1,465 toward an $8,000 goal through 22 donations.
The family said support will help with memorial and related expenses, and details regarding services will be announced later.
